Multi-Scanning:

Relying on a single anti-malware engine is no longer sufficient for high-security networks. Constant targeting by attackers, with advanced threats, and the skyrocketing growth of malware, necessitates defense in depth.
As a proof of concept for our multi-scanning technology, we offer limited file, hash and IP scanning on Metadefender.com supported by 40+ anti-malware engines.

Data Sanitization:

Data Sanitization, also known as Content Disarm & Reconstruction (CDR), prevents any possibility of malicious content (including zero-day threats) from executing.
High-risk files can be sanitized through several different methods:

  1. Altering the internal file structure.
  2. Removing embedded objects (scripts, macros, etc.)
  3. Converting the file format

Vulnerability Detection:

Vulnerabilities are a huge risk for many organizations, as attackers often exploit these vulnerabilities before a patch is available and applied.

  1. Scan systems for known vulnerabilities at rest, without having to power them on.
  2. LCheck software for known vulnerabilities before it is installed.
  3. Quickly scan entire systems and running applications for vulnerabilities.

Heuristics:

Metadefender Core leverages the heuristic-based detection from many leading engines, providing the best protection from new threats not yet identified by anti-malware definition databases.

  1. Scan with more than 30 anti-malware engines.
  2. Detect new threats through heuristic analysis.
  3. Enable and disable heuristics for each engine individually.

Archive Extraction:

Archives can be scanned for threats using either unextracted scanning (scans entire archive as a whole) or extracted scanning (scans each file within an archive individually)

  1. Improve detection capabilities of anti-malware engines by using both extracted and unextracted scanning.
  2. Decrease scanning time and improve processing time by removing redundant scanning of archives.
  3. Prevent archive bombs by extracting files and scanning them individually.

Additionally, administrators can customize the way archive scanning is performed to avoid threats like zip bombs.

Workflow:

Metadefender Core’s workflows allow administrators to customize the security policies they select for different files depending on the source of the file.
For example, administrators may choose to first scan all external files with multiple anti-malware engines and then sanitize them, or sanitize them first and then scan for threats with multiple engines.
